Excited! I finished my first short story for 2018. It’s my first attempt at a DARK plot. It was unexpectedly fun to come up with the diabolical twists. I’m more excited than a kid with a new Bugs Bunny Pez Dispenser. Thanks to James Scott Bell’s book, Plot and Structure for the valuable guidance.
Last night, I dreamt that I was tasked with the job of grinding a piece of metal down on a powerful belt sander. The high-speed grinder kept pulling the metal out of my hands. I was worried the metal would disappear and my fingertips would be ground to nubs. But instead, the whirling belt grabbed my hair! Surprisingly, it didn’t hurt. It just yanked my head backward. The next second it released me. I pulled my hair back into a pony tail, to see if any hair was missing, to discover I had a badly shaped Mohawk. You can imagine my relief this morning when I woke up with all my hair.
